During this E3 2018 Sony's conference, Naughty
Dog revealed the first gameplay trailer for The Last of Us Part II.
No surprise with Naughty Dog regarding the quality of animation, but this time they seem to have taken another big step forward in term of animation fluidity (and look) during gameplay phase. The animation blending can be truly qualified of "seamless".
The gameplay shown in the trailer is said to be "real" by Naughty Dog.
If the action sequence happening in the video might result of some kind of "ideal" walktrough (for the purpose of the trailer), it is a revisited and higlhy improved version of Uncharted's animation engine that has been used to blend the animations together and create an ultra-fluidity during transitions. Director and writer Neil Druckmann and Co-Game Directors Anthony Newman and Kurt Margenau explains more about it in the video below (starts at 11:09).
